Nebraska's Matt Rhule keeps bulletin-board material away from Oregon before Eugene trip

Nebraska coach Matt Rhule chose his words carefully about Oregon ahead of Saturday's late kickoff in Eugene, where the Ducks are favored by 7.5.

Nebraska coach Matt Rhule isn't giving Oregon any extra motivation before the Cornhuskers travel to Eugene this week. Asked about the Ducks while previewing the trip, Rhule made it clear he would keep his comments tame, according to On3's Justin Hopkins.

"Certainly not going to say anything they can play in their stadium," Rhule said, as reported by On3. He was talking about the road trip to Autzen Stadium and about getting his team ready for a very late kickoff.

Most of On3's report is behind a subscriber paywall. The publicly available part shows Rhule focused on logistics and on staying out of the way of any pregame noise. He has reason to be careful. Nebraska is heading into one of the toughest road environments in the conference, and any line from the visiting coach could end up on the video board.

A late night in Eugene

Nebraska (5-1) plays at Oregon (3-2) on Saturday at 11 p.m. Eastern on Fox. That puts kickoff at 8 p.m. local time in Eugene, but well past the usual bedtime for a team and fan base on Central time. Rhule specifically mentioned preparing for the late start, which can throw off meals, meetings and sleep for a visiting team crossing two time zones.

The two teams arrive in different places. Nebraska has five wins through six games and a chance to make a statement on the road against a program that came into the year with national-title expectations. Oregon is coming off a game against UCLA and already has two losses. In a separate piece, On3's Oregon site wrote that the Ducks' goal has shifted from contending for a national title to earning a playoff berth. A third loss at home would make even that harder.

Where the market stands

Oregon is still favored despite the gap in records. On Novig, one of the venues pricing the game, the Ducks are -251 to win, with Oregon favored by 7.5 points and the total at 52.5. Among sportsbooks, BetMGM has the highest Oregon moneyline price at -295. Full numbers are on our Nebraska at Oregon odds page.

The line suggests the market still rates Oregon's roster and home field above Nebraska's better start. Rhule's quiet week is meant to keep it that way until kickoff, so the Huskers can make their case on the field rather than at the podium.
