About The Heartland Line
Big Ten football odds, priced everywhere, with the math shown.
Who runs it
The Heartland Line is an independent publication for Big Ten football fans: the day's news from every corner of the conference, live scores and standings, and every game priced across the sportsbooks and the prediction markets side by side.
Our own stories are written by our staff from public reporting, which we credit and link. The Wire collects headlines from other outlets and links straight to them; we do not republish their work.
We may earn a commission when you open an account through a link on this site. That does not change the numbers: every venue's price comes from the same feed at the same moment and is shown as published.
Where the prices come from
Sportsbook and exchange prices are pulled from a licensed odds feed that carries 10 venues: Novig, DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, bet365, BetRivers, Hard Rock Bet, theScore Bet, Fanatics, Pinnacle. Kalshi and Polymarket prices come from each exchange's public market data. The board refreshes about every ten minutes; game pages show the time of the last refresh.
How the columns are calculated
- Profit on $100. American odds converted to the profit a winning $100 position returns. For an exchange contract at price p with fee rate r, the stake buys contracts and pays the fee: profit = 100 / (p × (1 + r × (1 − p))) − 100.
- Best and versus best. The venue that returns the most on $100 is marked Best; every other venue shows how many dollars it sits behind.
- Hold. For a two-way market, the two implied probabilities summed, minus 100%. A sportsbook's -110/-110 is 4.76%. An exchange's figure is the spread between its two sides.
- Different line. On spreads and totals, a venue quoting a different number is flagged and its price should be read alongside the line, not instead of it.
What we will not do
- No picks dressed up as facts. The Sharp Desk's picks are labelled opinion, priced at real lines, and every one is graded in public, losses included.
- No marketing to anyone under 21.
