The law in Wisconsin, in plain English

Wisconsin tribes have run in-person sportsbooks under their gaming compacts since the Oneida Nation opened the first in 2021. Assembly Bill 601, signed April 9, 2026, allows statewide mobile betting as long as the servers sit on tribal land, but each tribe must first amend its compact with the state and win federal approval. No app is live yet, and most estimates point to 2027.

Until then, the statewide option is a federally regulated prediction market. Novig is available in Wisconsin. In April 2026 Attorney General Josh Kaul sued Kalshi, Polymarket and other platforms in Dane County, arguing their sports contracts are illegal gambling; those platforms were still operating in the state as of this review while the cases proceed.
