How the Novig promo code works

Novig is not a sportsbook, so its welcome offer is not a “bonus bet”. You deposit $10 or more, and Novig credits your account with $50 of Trade Credits: buying power you can put on contracts without spending your own deposit. The credits come as 5 pieces of $10, which is the part most people miss. Only one credit can be applied to a trade, so you are not placing one $50 trade; you are placing 5 separate $10 trades.

Each credit can buy any contract priced between 1¢ and 60¢, which in odds terms is -150 or longer. That rules out heavy favourites and nothing else. Because the credit is not returned on a win, longer prices make the credits worth more. A credit on a -150 favourite returns $6.67 if it hits; the same credit at +200 returns $20.00.

What is Novig?

Novig is a sports prediction market designated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Instead of betting against a book that sets a line with a margin built in, you buy and sell contracts on an outcome with other users. A contract on a team to win trades between 1¢ and 99¢ and pays $1 if that team wins, so the price is the market’s probability. On this site every Novig price is also shown as American odds and as profit per $100 so it can sit next to DraftKings, FanDuel and Kalshi on the odds board.

Novig versus a sportsbook

• No vig on the price you set. You can post your own price and wait for another trader to take it, like a limit order.
• No limits for winning. Sportsbooks cut off sharp accounts; an exchange wants more volume.
• Sell before the game ends. A contract can be sold back to the market at the current price.
• Available where sportsbooks are not. Minnesota, California, Washington, Wisconsin and Nebraska have no statewide sportsbook app and do have Novig.

Novig fees: what you actually pay

Novig does not build a margin into its prices. Instead it charges a fee on some trades, using one formula: fee = coefficient × price × (1 − price) per contract, where the price is the contract’s cost in dollars. Every price on this site’s Big Ten board is a pre-game straight trade, so a Trade Credit placed from the board pays no fee at all. A live trade on a Big Ten game is the one place the college-football rate applies: 1.5¢ on a 50¢ contract, or $1.50 on 100 contracts.

How that compares with Kalshi and Polymarket

Both exchanges also quote a probability rather than a line with vig, and both charge on the fill. On this site’s board Kalshi is modelled at 7¢ × P × (1−P) per contract and Polymarket at a 5¢ coefficient where a market states no schedule. At a 50¢ price that is 1.75¢ on Kalshi and 1.25¢ on Polymarket per contract, against $0 for a pre-game trade on Novig. The odds board does this arithmetic for every Big Ten game so you can see profit per $100 after fees side by side.

Yes. Novig is the trade name of Ludlow Exchange, LLC, d/b/a Novig, a contract market designated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Its promotion terms are filed with the CFTC, every market is fully collateralised (your position is backed by cash on both sides, which is why a contract pays exactly $1), and the exchange publishes its rulebook and member agreement.
