Maryland football odds: Terps 5.5-point underdogs at Purdue as coaching search continues
Purdue is favored by 5.5 over Maryland on Saturday. At 2-6, the Terps have to win their last four games to reach a bowl, and the coaching search continues.

Maryland is a 5.5-point underdog at Purdue on Saturday, Nov. 7, on BTN. Purdue is favored at -199 on the moneyline at Novig, one of 11 venues on our board, and Maryland is +190 there. The best Maryland moneyline price anywhere is +197 at Polymarket. Maryland is 2-6 and out of the College Football Playoff race. Its bowl chances now depend on winning every remaining game.
That is where the Terrapins stand this week as the program's coaching situation, which we covered in our Gruden story, plays out alongside the rest of the season. For the full schedule, results and roster picture, see our Maryland team page. This story covers what changed this week.
Where the Purdue number sits
The line has settled at Purdue -5.5 at Novig, with Maryland at +104 and Purdue at -108 on the spread. Pinnacle has Maryland at +6.5 for -114, the widest number on the board. The total is 56.5 at Novig, Over -106 and Under -102. BetMGM has the highest total at 57.5. Sportsbook hold on the game ranges from about 3.3% to 7% depending on the market, so prices for the same outcome can differ noticeably between venues. Live prices refresh about every ten minutes on our Maryland at Purdue odds page.
That total says the market expects points. It is a lot to ask of a Maryland team that scored 17 against Illinois last week. Two weeks earlier, though, the Terps put 30 on Rutgers and still lost by seven.
Six straight losses and a narrow path
Maryland started 2-0, beating Hampton 62-0 and winning 38-14 at UConn. It has lost every game since. The losses were 35-26 to Virginia Tech, 54-3 to UCLA, 48-23 at Nebraska, 45-16 at No. 5 Ohio State, 37-30 to Rutgers and 20-17 to Illinois.
The last two losses came by one score each, a change from the blowouts in the middle of the season. The defense held Illinois to 20 points, the fewest Maryland has allowed since the opener against Hampton. That is the case for the Terps being close at Purdue. The case against is that they have not won since September.
With four games left, Maryland can finish no better than 6-6. A loss Saturday would end its bowl hopes. Playoff odds stopped mattering several weeks ago.
What the season means for the search
The remaining games matter to the coaching search. Whoever takes over inherits a roster that has lost six straight. A late stretch of competitive games, especially a road win in West Lafayette, would help the case that the next coach can turn things around quickly. Another lopsided result would add to the pressure on the athletic department to move quickly.
Maryland has not announced a hire. The program is expected to keep playing out the schedule under its current staff while the search continues. Most Power Four searches finish in late November or early December, around the end of the regular season and the start of the early signing and transfer windows. We will update the Maryland team page as the school names finalists or a hire.
What is legal in Maryland
Maryland allows sports betting through state-licensed sportsbooks, both in person and on mobile apps, for adults 21 and over who are physically in the state. Betting with unlicensed offshore operators is not legal. Maryland regulators have challenged prediction-market platforms that offer sports contracts in the state, and that legal fight is still going. Anyone in Maryland should check whether a platform is licensed or allowed in the state before using it.
